Winter Vacation Workshops at the Bennington Museum
Want to keep your kids busy during February vacation, but don’t know how? What about an educational, fun workshop every afternoon! From Monday, February 19 – Friday, February 23, the Bennington Museum offers a different workshop each day for children ages 7-10, from 1:00-4:00 pm. These workshops, designed with little people in mind, offer a fun alternative for a vacation afternoon.
The following workshops are available for $10/day for members and $15/day for non-members, and include a light snack.
Monday, February 19th Paint Your Vegetable Try your hand at still life painting using vegetables as models. See the still lifes on temporary display in the Local Artists Gallery, and enjoy a snack of the tasty veggies you just painted.
Tuesday, February 20th The Science of History What makes cream turn into butter? Why were the weapons of the Civil War more accurate than the weapons of the Revolutionary War? Learn the science behind the history.
Wednesday, February 21st On the Underground Railroad with Harriet Tubman
Hear the stories of Harriet Tubman, conductor on the Underground Railroad. Learn about how slaves escaped to freedom using songs and secret codes.
Thursday, February 22nd A Salute to General George Washington Celebrate George Washington’s birthday with a look at the Revolutionary War. Try on the uniforms and the clothing of the 1770’s, enjoy a red, white and blue snack, and learn about the life of our first president.
Friday, February 23rd Kids Collect What do you collect? Get a sneak peek at the Bennington Collects exhibit, learn more about what the Bennington Museum collects, and learn new ways to take care of and display your collection.
