| Vermont Film Series: Homegrown Animation |
|
The Vermont Film Series continues at The Bennington Museum on Friday November 2 at 7:00 p.m. Vermont filmmaker Meredith Holch will present some of her colorful and captivating animated shorts, followed by a hands-on stop-motion animation demonstration and discussion. Ms. Holch will show "Picture Perfect," an inventive and poignant look at Vermont's changing landscape and disappearing rural way of life, and "No Place Like Home," images made from translucent, layered tissue paper accompanying the voices of refugees as they relate their experiences of resettling in Vermont. Meredith Holch is a director, animator and editor. Her work has been broadcast on WNET/PBS and on numerous Public Access stations from New York City to Vermont. Her films and videos screen at national and international film festivals, art galleries, and museums, including The Museum of Modern Art in New York City. She also screens her movies at various non-traditional sites, including the walls of endangered community gardens, public libraries and on the sides of old barns in Northern Vermont where she lives. The Vermont Film Series is a six-month series which brings Vermont films and filmmakers to Bennington to share their films, techniques and ideas. The events take place on the first Friday of each month, October through March, at 7:00 p.m. in the Ada Paresky Education Center at The Bennington Museum. Admission is $5 per person. Students with current school i.d. are admitted free. The 2007 - 2008 Vermont Film Series is sponsored by the Applejack Foundation. More information on the entire film series can be found here. |
