| Film Series Continues with Michael Fisher and Maria Rosenblum |
|
On Friday December 7, at 7:00 p.m., The Bennington Museum will welcome filmmakers Michael Fisher and Maria Rosenblum to the Ada Paresky Education Center as part of the 3rd Annual Vermont Film Series. Admission to the event is $5 per person. Michael Fisher graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he wrote, produced, and directed his first short film, "Noir." Michael has since directed numerous short films in his native Vermont. His films have been screened at such venues as the 2002 Slamdunk Film Festival, the 2004 Slamdance, Moondance and IFO Central Standard Film Festivals, and the 2005 Los Angeles International Short Film Festival. Michael also participated in the 2005-2006 Vermont Film Series at The Bennington Museum. Michael has mentored young filmmakers across Vermont and currently teaches a film production course at Burlington College. Michael will share several of his short films, including his most recent works, "To a Flame," and "Shell." These short, visually striking films present an interesting comparison of technique and style with the film of the evening's other guest, Maria Rosenblum. Maria's film, "Magnetic Poles" is a 30 minute narrative about life's attractions and repulsions, and a relationship in trouble. (Film contains mild nudity and brief sexual content.) Maria attended Bennington College, where whe received a BA in acting and lighting. She received her Master's Degree from UCLA's MFA program in film directing. Her films have won numerous awards, including the Audience Choice Award for Best Short Film at the Brooklyn International Film Festival and the Motion Pictures Association of America Award. She just completed writing her latest feature script, Water Falls in Manhattan, and she is in production for a documentary, Myths of Mothering. Maria lives with her husband and daughter in the East Village, New York City. The Vermont Film Series is a six-month series which brings Vermont films and filmmakers to Bennington to share their films, techniques and ideas. The events take place on the first Friday of each month, October through March, at 7:00 p.m. in the Ada Paresky Education Center at The Bennington Museum. Admission is $5 per person. Students with current school i.d. are admitted free. The 2007 - 2008 Vermont Film Series is sponsored by the Applejack Foundation. More information on the Vermont Film Series can be found here. |
