Workshops for Idle Hands

Whether you are looking for something for the entire family, or to keep the kids busy during Winter Break, the Bennington Museum has something for you. On Feb. 9, from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Bennington Museum’s Family Workshops get under way. The Year of the Rat invites you to dress in red and join in celebrating the Chinese New Year. Find out what your Chinese Zodiac sign is (and what it says about you), make traditional holiday decorations, and enjoy a tasty treat. This workshop is designed for children ages 6 and up and their grown-up friends. It’s fun, hands-on, and educational. Space is limited, and advance registration is required. Fee is $2 per person for members of the Bennington Museum and $8 per person for non-members. Call the Bennington Museum’s Program Coordinator at 447-1571.

The other workshops in the series are: Mar. 8: Colors and Shapes; Apr. 12: Spring into Action; May 10: Tools of the Trade; June 14: A Grand Old Flag; July 12: Take Me Out to the Ballgame; Aug. 9: History Mystery; Sept.13: Happy Birthday, Grandma Moses; Oct. 11: Jane Stickle’s Quilt; and Nov. 8: For the Record.

Are you are looking to keep the children busy during the Winter Break, but don’t know how? Look to the Bennington Museum’s Vacation Workshops for a fun and educational alternative for a vacation afternoon. Designed with little people in mind (ages 7 - 10), these workshops run Feb. 18 to 22, from 1 to 4 p.m. The fee for each workshop is $10 per child for members and $15 per child for non-members.
