Young Musicians to Perform at the Bennington Museum

The Bennington Museum welcomes two very talented young musicians for a concert performance on Sunday, August 19 at 3:00 p.m., in the museum’s Ada Paresky Education Center.  Irene Fitzgerald-Cherry and Nathan Heidelberger will perform a program of mostly neo-classical works by 20th century composers.  The program for the afternoon includes Habanera-Serenade by Eric Gross, Ballade by Carl Goldmark, Suite Italien-by Igor Stravinsky, 6 pieces (movements 1-3) by John Cage, Due Studi (movement 1)-by Luigi Dallapiccola, and Movement-by Stephen Yates.  The concert is free with museum admission.

A sophomore at New York University double-majoring in Music Performance and Linguistics, Irene Fitzgerald-Cherry has been playing the violin since she was nine. Currently she is under the tutelage of Anton Miller. Last year she performed at the Bennington Museum accompanied by Julian Cartwright on guitar. She has played with several regional orchestras; including  the orchestra for three New Opera concert productions at Williams College, and for the Battenkill Chorale’s performance of Elijah. Irene has just finished participating in the Young Artists Summer Program at the Manchester Music Festival.

Hailing from Cortlandt Manor, New York, Nathan Heidelberger will be entering his junior year at Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music where he is double majoring in Music Composition and English. Lately his compositional focus has been on vocal writing, and he is also interested in the synthesis of speech and music. Nathan’s compositions have been honored by the New York State School Music Association, and he has participated in the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young Artists Composition Program.

The museum is located at 75 Main St. and is open daily 10-5. Closed Wednesdays. Visit www.benningtonmuseum.org for more information or cal 802-447-1571.
