Couples are seeking an original and awe-inspiring setting to showcase their love. Intimate, beautiful, warm, and unique, the Bennington Museum's event space is truly special for your ceremony, reception, or both! Adorned with antiques, exquisite clocks, and paintings, the Bennington Museum is the perfect place for couples that have a fondness for art and culture, and want to create memories that last a lifetime. Consider wedding pictures in front of the antique Wasp car, or among the beautiful statues or paintings. With your event the only one taking place at your specified time, we can attend to your needs. After 5 pm, the entire museum is yours to share with your guests, or for photo opportunities, gallery viewing and enjoying your special day. Warm and elegant, Bennington Museum surrounds you with antiques and fine art creating a uniquely beautiful place to celebrate your love.
Ceremonies may take place in our Center Gallery or Ada and Paul Paresky Wing, where art and beautiful backdrops set the stage for your special day. The Gallery can accommodate up to 80 seated guests for your ceremony, while the Wing can cascade over accommodating up to 120. During warmer months, ceremonies may take place outside in the Museum Courtyard where the columns that surround the entrance, and the famous sculpture The Lincoln Trilogy (The American Spirit), 1939 by Clyde du Vernet Hunt, present a dramatic setting for your special day.
Wedding receptions typically take place in the Ada and Paul Paresky Wing which spans over 1900 square feet with an additional 800 square feet in the Center Gallery. When not used for the ceremony, the gallery space is typically used for cocktail receptions which precede the dinner reception. The Paresky Wing can seat 130 dinner guests for a sit down dinner or buffet along with a dance floor, and incorporates the use of both round and rectangular tables, as well as provides for a head table should you wish one. It can comfortably seat 100 allowing for a larger dance floor. In both cases, the space can accommodate a DJ, small band and gift/cake table. The sound system, also available for your use, can accommodate most audio input devices.
Our special event space features open-beam cathedral ceilings, natural wood floors and the original exterior stonewalls of the old museum. Antique clocks, statues, and sculpture adorn the rooms, along with paintings from the museum's collection. The expansive but warm space takes advantage of the museum's natural setting in the village of Old Bennington, the 18th century town settlement that overlooks Vermont's Green Mountains. The exterior of the events addition recalls 19th century carriage house architecture and reflects nearby historic structures. The wedding staff at the Bennington Museum is ready to help make your event one to remember.
